When the MobileID desktop application is installed and run for the first time the user is asked to set their security PIN. If a user has forgotten their PIN, there is no way to recover the PIN.

The user would have to remove a local data file in order to reset the PIN. However, by removing the local data file, the user would also lose their token data.

On Windows OS, the local data file called "MobileID4.db" needs to be removed using the following procedure;

  1. Prior to deleting the file ensure that the Windows MobileID application is fully exited.

  2. Open a window, and enter the following folder address "%appdata%\MobileID";

  3. A new window will now open that contains the data file "MobileID4.db", delete this file;

  4. Having deleted the data file you can now run the PC MobileID application, and the PIN can now be set.

On Mac OS, the local data file can be removed by launching Terminal and entering the following commands

Having deleted the data file you can now relaunch the MobileID application and will be prompted to set a PIN.
