DualShield MFA for Outlook Anywhere provides two options for MFA implementation, Device-Base Authentication (DBA) and Agent-Based Authentication (ABA).
The Device-Based Authentication does not require end users to install any additional software on their PCs or laptops, therefore it is also called Agentless or Zero Footprint. This implementation uses the user's device ID as the second factor authentication method.
The Agent-Based Authentication supports all types of authentication methods such as One-Time Password etc, but it requires end users to install an Outlook Addon, the DualShield Outlook Agent software, on their PCs and workstations.
MFA Implementation | Protocol Supported | OS Supported | Exchange Supported |
---|---|---|---|
Device-based | MAPI and EWS | Outlook for Windows, Outlook for Mac | Exchange 2016, 2019 |
Agent-based | MAPI and RPC over HTTP | Outlook for Windows only | Exchange 2013, 2016, 2019 |
