Free navigation is simple and easy to understand and use. However, if your GridID card is lost or stolen, the person who picks up your card will be able to generate passwords and logon into your account if that person also knows your account password. If this is a concern to you then you want a way that can protect your credential when your card is lost or stolen. Fortunately, Deepnet GridID provides a unique feature that gives you this extra level of protection. This feature is called Secret Navigation.

Secret Navigation works in the same way as Free Navigation in term of navigation movement. The difference is that your navigation path is fixed to a pattern that is only known to you. In other words, to generate a valid password, you must navigate in the fixed path every time you need to logon. Anyone who does not know your secret navigation path will not be able to generate valid password, even if they are in possession of your card.

For example, you can choose the following path as your secret:

Up Right → Up Right → Right → Down Right

And your card is as below:

Then, the following passwords are valid:
                Start Point             Password
                    A8                          hsxvu
                    P9                          5f7kc
But the following passwords are invalid:
                Start Point             Password
                    A8                          h95h9
                    P9                          5h960
