Device Certificate (DeviceCert) is a technology that combines Device Finergerprinting (DevicePass) and PKI Certificate. Device fingerprinting is a very secure authentication technology based on device fingerprint, but it requires that the web browser supports web socket. Web browsers on smartphones generally do not support web socket, and some embedded browsers in the latest Microsoft Office products do not support web socket either. On the other hand, browsers on all platforms do support PKI certificate, but certificate is not secure in the sense that certificate can be stolen, copied and used by imposters.

Device Certificate is a technology that locks a certificate to a device by using the device's fingerprint. Essentially, a device certificate is a secure PKI certificate. It is supported by all browsers on all platforms, and it is very secure as it is locked down to the user's device.
